Sports facility approval: regulatory framework and safety
The regulatory framework: the role of CONI and the Federations
The legal foundation of the entire system is the CONI Regulation for sports facilities, alongside the specific regulations issued by each Federation for every discipline, such as FIP regulations for basketballor FIPAV regulations for voleyball.
These provisions define the minimum requirements that a facility must meet, including:
- The importance of certified equipment: precision of the playing fields and safety areas.
- Surface performance: shock absorption capacity and elastic response of flooring systems, as in the case of sports parquet.
- Equipment safety: stability and resistance of baskets, goals, posts and spectator stands.
Why approval is essential: safety and responsibility
Obtaining sports facility approval therefore means that the structure has been inspected by federal technicians and complies with the performance standards required for the relevant level of play, whether regional, national or international.
The value of certification becomes particularly evident when analyzed from a risk management perspective. An approved facility equipped with compilano certifications protects both the facility manager and the sports club from several critical issues:
- Validity of competitions: without approval, the results of official matches cannot be validated by the federations, potentially invalidating championships.
- Insurance coverage: many insurance policies provide coverage in the event of infuri only if the accident occurs in a facility that complies with current regulations and is equipped with cretified equipment.
- Civil and criminal liability: in the event of accidents caused by malfunctioning or non-compliant equipment, the facility owner or club manager May be held directly responsible for damages.
Technical solutions for every discipline: approval requirements
Approval requirements involve specific technical standards that vary significantly according to the sport practiced. Each federation imposes standards that directly influence the design of the facility and the choice of equipment.
- Basketball: for high-level competitions, it is essential to rely on F.I.B.A. certified basketball facilities, which guarantee precise parameters regarding backboard elasticity, basket resistance to drink-related stress and overall structural stability.
- Volleyball: in this area, federal approval for official competitions almost exclusively requires the use of single-post volleyball systems, the only systems capable of ensuring the necessary net tension and safety for professional play.
- Football and Five-a-Side football: here, the focus shifts to structural safety. Football and five-a-side goals must be equipped with certified anchoring systems that prevent tipping, in compliance with FIGC directives.
- Hospitality and spectator areas: areas outside the field are also subject to strict regulations. Grandstands and locker room furniture must comply with criteria relating to fire resistance, ergonomics and certified load-bearing capacity in order to obtain approval for the entire facility.
The setup of a facility intended for approval must include equipment manufactured according to high quality standards. At Artisport, we follow strict protocols guaranteed by UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certification and, for specific disciplines such as baskeball, we supply F.I.B.A. approved systems for high-level competitions or UNI EN 1271-certified equipment, UNI EN 748-certified football equipment, UNI EN 749-certified five-a-side football equipment and UNI EN 1270-certified volleyball equipment, making Artisport one of the most certified companies in the sector. Choosing certified products that undergo constant checks is not only a technical decision, but an investment in the longevity of the facility and in the peace of mind of those who manage it everyday. Every component, from the fixing screw of a spectator stand to the tensioning mechanism of a volleyball net, contributes to achieving full legislative compliance.
